Lying on the border, Sohgi Barwa is the last Indian village in Maharajgnaj before Nepal begins and has Bihar on the other side. The legal approach road, via Kushinagar's Khadda and East Champaran's Madanpur, is non-motorable in the rainy season and residual marshes take another two-three month to leave, forcing the residents to take the illegal Nepal route to travel.
