In Assam, Muslim man defies curfew, takes Hindu woman to hospital

When Nandita Das went into labour on Sunday, clash-hit Hailakandi was in a state of lockdown. The entire district had been under curfew since Friday's communal clashes in Hailakandi, Assam. Her neighbour Maqbool Hussain Laskar, came to the family's help and drove the woman to the hospital in his auto rickshaw amidst curfew. The couple named their child 'Shanti'.
